Swing, jazz, dance, in the heart of the Fifties.

Every year in May, the “Grand Bal Swing” causes hearts to leap with emotion for over a thousand festival-goers, dancers and swing jazz lovers. The thirteen musicians of the Esprit Jazz Big Band – three trumpets, three trombones, four saxophones plus a piano/bass/drums trio, this year sublimated by the presence of singer Prisca Demarez, and the guitarist Jean-Michel Kajdan – take you back deep into the heart of the post-war Swing distilled by the likes of Count Basie, Duke Ellington or Glenn Miller. In a festive atmosphere, this exceptional big band – in a rare appearance onstage – will be accompanying swirling skirts and outstanding dancers in the remarkable courtyard of the Irish Cultural Centre. There’s a reduced admission-fee if you come dressed in period-costume and do your hair…

Jean-Pierre Solvès : director, saxophone, flute / Joël Chausse, Yves Le Carboulec, Tony Russo : trumpets / Daniel Zimmermann, Jean-Christophe Vilain, Damien Verherve : trombones / Hervé Meschinet, Romain Cuoq, Maxime Berton : saxophones, flutes / Claude Terranova : piano / Marc-Michel Le Bévillon : doublebass / François Laudet : drums + guestd : Prisca Demarez : vocals / Jean-Michel Kajdan : guitar.
