Nik Bärtsch

Discover a captivating dreamlike journey. The Swiss keyboard player and composer Nik Bärtsch has everything to move the audience. He is one of the most unique personalities to have risen on the Jazz scene in the past ten years. In 2011, the “Wall street Journal” chose his performance with “Ronin”, as one of the top six shows of the year, along with Radiohead, Patti Smith, Feist, and Anna Calvi. Between the accuracy of a Swiss watchmaker, and the detachment of a Zen master, Nik Bärtsch’s music inherited from Steve Reich and from James Brown, and according to its author, is very good in transmitting an “intense and calm energy”, a hypnotic groove supported by the group cohesion. He chose the festival to present his new album: “Continuum”, released on the 18th March at ECM. He is going back to his very first formation “Mobile”, purely acoustic, taking you into a musical trance full of unexpected places, and bold combinations.
