A PARIS PREMIERE FOR THIS SPELLBINDING QUINTET
What began as an improvised one-night live encounter has become a musical phenomenon with each of its stage appearances. The quartet led by saxophonist Raphaël Imbert and singer Celia Kameni is a marvellous adventure in sound and aesthetics.
His powerful, expressive playing intertwines with the delicate touch of pianist Pierre-François Blanchard – nominated at the latest Victoires du Jazz awards – the groove of double bassist Pierre Fenichel and the power of much-in-demand drummer Pierre-François Dufour, notably seen alongside Hans Zimmer, Diana Krall and Melody Gardot.
This musical landscape offers Celia Kameni’s voice and intense presence rarely heard poetic sonic paths that are just as striking.
Raphaël Imbert has always favored bridges between the jazz tradition and its most contemporary achievements, between writing and the art of improvisation. Poetic Ways is a remarkable translation of this, allowing us to hear Gabriel Fauré, Verlaine, Léo Ferré, Nina Simone and Charles Baudelaire in the same jubilant vein.
In the heart of the remarkable and secret Cour Mansart, entirely restored, this true power group will embark you with delicate harmonies, between melancholy, joy… and poetry!
