SARAH LENKA WOMEN’S LEGACY

WOMEN IN JAZZ STAGE

GEM ALERT!

Young and mesmerizing singer-songwriter Sarah Lenka is known for her very personal renditions, as well as her moving raspy voice. Dubbed as early as 2007 “Best Female Vocalist” by Sacem, she has never stopped honoring the repertoire of the greatest jazz singers (Billie Holidai, Bessie Smith). For her fourth album “Women’s Legacy”, Sarah Lenka chose to pay tribute to feminism by covering songs by African-American slave women. A history and legacy of women that the singer wanted to convey to the public as a victory on abuse and silence. With her intensely sensitive voice and her jazzy world borrowing from folk and blues music, she captivates her audience by singing the emotions that haunt her. Hôtel Lutetia’s Salon Cristal will thus become, for one evening, the jewel box for these odes to love and life.
