DOUBLE CONCERT EVENING

8pm-9:15pm: SOPHIA DOMANCICH & SIMON GOUBERT « TWOFOLD HEAD »

Partners in life and on stage, pianist Sophia Domancich and drummer Simon Goubert – both Jazz Academy laureates – have dreamed up their musical worlds, powered by a great sense of freedom and improvisation, over the last 35 years, connecting with a few illustrious peers (Magma, Soft Machine…) along the way. They released the extremely delicate « Twofold Head » at the end of 2021, for which they received Jazz Magazine’s CHOC stamp and Jazz News’ INDISPENSABLE label.

Inspired by David Lynch’s short movies, both musicians ventured into the American cinematographer’s visual and musical landscapes, to pen personal songs and improvisations, both graced with an exceptional glowing raw beauty.

Through its dreamy narrative, « Twofold Head » leads the listener to experience many feelings and emotions between delicate nuances and sparks, through a unique and captivating atmosphere. An ethereal evening where the audience is invited to close their eyes and imagine their very own movie while listening to its soundtrack.

9:30pm-10:45pm: HENRI TEXIER TRIO « HETEROKLITE LOCKDOWN »

A true legend on the French and international jazz scenes, double bass player Henri Texier returns for his jubilee, crowning a career spanning fifty years. Relentlessly spearheading his many fresh and innovative musical adventures, the wandering musician always kept the audiences in admiration thanks to his delicate yet powerful touch, which mirrored his ever-modest personality. On January 28th, he released a new album  « Heteroklite lockdown » (his thirty-seventh as a frontman or co-frontman) alongside saxophonist Sébastien Texier and drummer Gautier Garrigue, rekindling with a trio formation that he had left behind some twenty years ago. Completed by three numbers from the great international repertoire « Besame Mucho », « Round About Midnight » and « What is this thing called love? », the album offers many new songs written by the three musicians. The trio will undoubtedly deliver a melodic, lyrical, groovy performance, the promise of a joyful evening.
