MUSIC & DANCE COME TOGETHER FOR A GRAND ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!
The European Jazz Companions is a unique big band, created in 2021 by saxophonist and composer Pierre Bertrand (Victoires du Jazz 2005 and 2017). It brings together young European talents from the best conservatories and among the most promising on the jazz scene. Supervised by leading European soloists, these musicians enjoy a collective artistic experience of excellence, based on sharing, transmission, and encounter. It is a human adventure that can be felt in the incredible energy of the orchestra transmitted at each of its concerts.
For the past five years, the big band has been touring major European festivals such as the Classical Beat Festival in Lübeck, Nuejazz in Nuremberg, and Marseille Jazz des Cinq Continents.
On Saturday, May 23, these 19 musicians will arrive from all corners of Europe to bring an exceptional event back to life in Paris: a Grand Swing Ball, to the sound of this great live orchestra!
Under the passionate direction of Pierre Bertrand, the European Jazz Companions will revive the irresistible energy of the legendary post-war swing jazz dance parties, led by legendary big bands.
We invite you to join us in the sumptuous Réfectoire des Cordeliers with its vast parquet floor (50 meters long!), topped by centuries-old wooden arches, staged for the occasion as both a concert hall and a ballroom. You can listen, dance, and refresh yourself, carried away by the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, and many surprises.
A festive, generous, and jubilant evening, where swing rediscovers its collective and popular power.
