Why is the Odéon-Théâtre de l’Europe associated with the Festival Jazz à Saint-Germain-des-Prés Paris?

The first, obvious answer is in the title, “in Saint-Germain-des-Prés”: the Théâtre de l’Odéon, the place where “people talk while they sing”, is inseparable from the soul of the district, and spreads all the artistic vibrations from the beautiful circular square where it stands. What’s more, the Théâtre de l’Odéon, which is at once a place of creation, heritage and emergence, a European and international stage that welcomes and produces artists from all over the world, cannot leave out the great jazz musicians. Although the Odéon’s primary mission remains the theatre, music has always had a place there, and not just recently: Pierre Boulez was invited by Jean-Louis Barrault to give some memorable concerts there. Attending a jazz concert in this sublime Italian-style theatre is an unforgettable experience.
